There is a deer sanctuary on site, the Golden Eagle to meet visitors and the aroma of home made fancies and delicious breads in the famous Glenveagh tea rooms. Guided tours of the castle are available at allocated times.
45 minutes drive from our hotel in Letterkenny discover Sliabh League, situated on the west coast of Co. Donegal, standing tall at 600 metres above the wild Atlantic Ocean. The cliffs are the highest and the one of the most gracious cliffs in Europe. In addition to the breath taking views at Slieve League, the surrounding area is steeped in history with points of interest from hundreds of years ago including World War 2. A truly iconic landmark, well worth a visit, you certainly won’t be disappointed.
On the outskirts of Letterkenny on top of the Grianan mountain lies one of the finest stone forts in Ireland. The fort was built in the early centuries of the Christian era, and legend has it that it was built by the ancient gods, the ring fort was known as the sun palace and was held sacred. The massive stone wall is 3.9m thick and in the walls are small chambers and a series of stairs at regular intervals giving access to the wall walk.
Mount Errigal is located in the west of Donegal near Gweedore and it is the tallest peak of the Derryveagh Moutains, the tallest peak in Co. Donegal and the 76th tallest peak in Ireland. Errigal is also the steepest and the highest of the mountain chain called the “Seven Sisters” by the locals. It is well know for the pinkish glow of it’s quartzite in the setting sun and it’s every changing shape depending on what direction you view it from.
Located within close proximity by foot to the Station House Hotel Letterkenny . The museum was opened in 1987 and the building once formed part of the town’s workhouse which was established for the relief of the poor during the great famine for 1845 – 1850.
The function of the museum is to collect, preserve, record and display the material history of the county.

10 minutes from the hotel, Letterkenny Golf Club is one of the most scenic parkland courses in the North West. An 18 hole course situated in a magnificent scenic parkland setting, bordering on the shore of Lough Swilly, the course was originally carved out of natural woodlands.
Located on the Glenties road just outside Letterkenny is the Corn and Flax mills. There are two separate water driven mills located at this site, one for grinding oats and barley and the other for extracting fibres from the flax plant for use in the linen industry. The Corn Mill is powered by one of the largest working water wheels in Ireland and visitors to the site can see first hand the industrial and agricultural methods of a bygone era.
